Fire Station!!

Gabe and I got to visit the Pacific Beach Fire Station last Tuesday and it was awesome!! We got a tour of the entire station, including where the firemen hang out, make their meals, and sleep. Then came the fun part... the trucks and engines!!! Gabe was in heaven. He got to touch the trucks and climb inside. He even got to sit in the driver's seat!

Fireman Mike dressed in his full firefighter gear. He showed the kids what a firefighter will look like if he comes in to help them and told them not to be afraid of him.
Gabe driving the truck. It was hard to get him out of it.
They even closed the door so he felt like he was really in charge.
Gabe's fireman helmet!
If you have never toured your local fire station, I highly reccomend it. The firemen love being visited by the kids and of course the kids have a great time too!

Easter Celebration

This morning we joined our friends in one of our playgroups (yes, I am in two!) at the park for an Easter Celebration. We enjoyed a potluck brunch (YUM!) and then the kids went on an Easter egg hunt. Guess who they found at the end? That's right, the Easter Bunny! He hand-delivered an egg to each child, which of course they all thought was very special! Gabriel said "Thank you Mister Easter Bunny!". Ashlyn wasn't very impressed by our bunny and quickly informed me that it was just a man in a bunny suit. I'm a little sad to see her suspicious at only 6 years old, but she says she is excited for the real Easter Bunny to visit us tonight.

Checking out their loot!

Gabe would have spent all day with the Easter Bunny if he could have.

Balboa Park

We spent the day at Balboa Park on Wednesday after the dentist. Ashlyn has been on Spring Break and was excited to get out and play. We started at the carousel then once our good friends arrived, we headed over to the little outdoor snack bar for lunch and then to the model train museum. Gabe has been before (see previous post) but Ashlyn had never seen it. She wasn't nearly as into it as Gabe, but she did seem to enjoy watching the trains and talking with him about them. After the train museum we walked through the botanical gardens and spent some time looking at the koi fish in the pond outside. Those things are ruthless when it comes to feeding time! On our way out of Balboa Park (4 hours later) we stopped at a couple of fountains to splash each other and then rode the little train around before finally getting to our car and heading home. Gabe slept for 2.5 hours that afternoon!!

These were some big fishies.

Some flowers in the botanical gardens. I loved the way this pic turned out.

First Visit to the Dentist

Gabriel had his very first visit to the dentist this past Wednesday and he was such a good boy! He sat through the whole thing like a big boy. He let the hygenist clean, floss, and polish his teeth. Then he sat through a flouride treatment. I was surprised that he was so cooperative. He also let the dentist check his teeth and got a Spiderman toothbrush and toothpaste to take home. Here are some pics of Gabe and one he took of Brian while he had his turn!

Altered Book

So I started this altered book months ago and it has been sitting around half-finished forever but it is really fun to work on and I plan to pick back up and get going on it again soon. It's a "girly" book, meaning only girl pics allowed. I have yet to finish the book cover but when I do, it's going to look like a little diary. :)

This first one, I didn't turn right side up (oops).

Things that have kept me busy...

Here is Ashlyn with her first layout titled: Beautiful Girl.
She went to a class at Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks and I promise I didn't interfere at all. She did the whole thing on her own, including the stamping and threading her buttons with scrappers floss. She did such a great job and I'm so proud of her!

Here's a really simple 2 page layout I did last weekend with some cute Build-A-Bear papers.
Another layout with Disney papers this time... Tea Party!!

Slacker!!!

Okay, I realize that I have been really slacking in the blog department, which is exactly what I was afraid of when I started my blog. I just literally am never home. Seriously, it is 11pm and I just got home maybe an hour ago.
The weather has been beautiful and we have been getting the most out of it! Last week we spent a day at the zoo, a day at the pool, going on a bunch of walks and parks.
I also found out on Monday night that Ashlyn's Spring Party was happening on Thursday and I had signed up to help out (in September!) so I had to throw together an activity for it! It all worked out and ended up being a really fun party, even with the short notice we (the other mom and I) had gotten.
Last Saturday I went to a friend's and scrapbooked all day and I did the same today. (Thanks to my understanding and supportive husband!) I WILL post some pictures of what I have done recently as soon as I locate the camera. ;) We had to put a lot of things away (hidden) since our house is on the market and is being shown. It's not getting a lot of action though so we aren't feeling really any pressure to move, although we have started the process of house hunting. We've got our approval, so now it's just a matter of finding the perfect home that actually fits into our budget... not so easy in So Cal.
Back to the scrapbooking... Ashlyn took her first scrapping class two weeks ago at one of my favorited stores (and now hers), the Pink Pineapple. She did an amazing job (I will post pics) and she even altered the project a little, which I am very proud of because she is not afraid to show her own artistic abilities and she is really good!
So, as you can see I have been very busy... and I didn't even mention the Bunco, MNOs, book club meetings and other "little" things that have been holding me up!
Next week looks like a busy one as well, and I will post pics and blog then too, as Ashlyn will be on Spring Break! So far we have planned a trip to LegoLand, dentist appointments (Gabe's first!), and a trip to the fire station. Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
